About this tool

Track all 63 national parks

This National Parks Map is a free interactive tracker for the 63 designated national parks of the United States. Tap any pin on the map or check a park off the list, and your stats update instantly: parks visited, percentage complete, region completion, and the number of states you've reached.

The 63 parks span 30 states and two territories, from Acadia on the coast of Maine to the vast Alaskan wilderness of Wrangell, St. Elias and Gates of the Arctic. California leads with nine parks, Alaska has eight, and Utah's famous Mighty 5 (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches) make a classic road trip. The smallest is Gateway Arch in Missouri at under 200 acres, while the largest, Wrangell, St. Elias, covers more than 8 million.

Visiting every national park has become one of the most popular travel goals in America. Whether you're a few parks in or chasing all 63, this map gives you a clear picture of where you've been and what's left, organised by region so you can plan the next trip.

Your selections are saved in the page URL, so you can bookmark this page or share the link to keep your progress with no signup. To turn your park visits into a lasting record, with photos, dates, and notes for every trip, use the TripMemo app on iOS.

Park names, designation years, areas, and locations are sourced from the National Park Service.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I track the national parks I've visited?
Tap any park pin on the map, or check parks off the list below the map. Each park you mark turns orange, your stats update instantly, and your selections are saved in the URL so you can bookmark or share your map. Tap again to remove a park.
How many national parks are there?
There are 63 designated national parks in the United States. The count reached 63 in December 2020 when New River Gorge in West Virginia was redesignated from a national river to a national park. This tracker covers all 63, from Acadia in Maine to the eight parks of Alaska.

California has the most with nine national parks, including Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Death Valley, and Joshua Tree. Alaska is second with eight, and Utah has five, often called the Mighty 5.

What is the newest national park?

Can I share my national parks map?
Yes. The Share button creates a link with your parks encoded, so anyone who opens it sees your exact map. You can also download your map as an image to post on Instagram, iMessage, or anywhere else.
Are Alaska and Hawaii parks included?
Yes. All eight Alaska parks and both Hawaii parks are on the map, shown in their correct inset positions. The two territory parks, National Park of American Samoa and Virgin Islands, are included in the checklist so you can track all 63.
Is my progress saved automatically?
Your visited parks are stored in the page URL, so bookmark the page or copy your link to keep your progress without signing up. For a permanent record with photos, dates, and trip notes for each park, use the TripMemo app on iOS.
What is the difference between this and the TripMemo app?
