Make a photo book of your Turkey trip
- 5 illustrated covers drawn for Turkey
- 3 places on the covers
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
A trip to Turkey rarely stays in one mood. It can start with the call to prayer echoing across the Golden Horn, move on to a 5am alarm in Göreme to watch the balloons lift over the fairy chimneys, and end with a week of gulet trips and grilled fish on the Mediterranean. Three very different sets of photos, and a book is the place where they finally sit together in order.
The covers are drawn from things you will have seen for yourself. Istanbul has the Blue Mosque, its domes and minarets in cream and blue. Antalya has a blue door under pink bougainvillea above the sea. And the Turkey designs carry a hot-air balloon, in two versions, or a tulip-shaped glass of tea on a tulip-patterned saucer, for a trip that took in a bit of everything.

Where in Turkey?
The cities, coasts and corners the Turkey covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Istanbul
Blue Mosque
Most Turkey trips begin in Istanbul, and it can easily fill half the book. Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque facing each other across Sultanahmet, the Medusa heads in the Basilica Cistern, the lamp shops of the Grand Bazaar and the sacks of spice in the Egyptian Bazaar. Then the fishermen lining the Galata Bridge, a ferry across the Bosphorus to Kadıköy on the Asian side, and the painted houses on the steep streets of Balat.
Its cover draws the Blue Mosque itself, domes stacked above domes, which is the view you get from the square at dusk.

Cappadocia
Cappadocia is the chapter people talk about most: dozens of balloons rising over Göreme at first light, whether you were in a basket or watching from a cave hotel rooftop. By day there are the frescoed rock churches of the Göreme Open-Air Museum, walks through Rose Valley and Love Valley, the castle rock at Uçhisar and the tunnels of the underground cities at Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu.
Cappadocia has no cover of its own name, but both balloon covers are drawn for it: one a classic striped balloon on pink, the other a balloon wrapped in a band of tulips. Retitle either to Cappadocia or Göreme if that was the heart of the trip.

Antalya and the Turquoise Coast
Door & bougainvillea
Antalya is a beach holiday with an old town attached. Kaleiçi's lanes run down from Hadrian's Gate to the old harbour, the Lower Düden waterfall pours straight off the cliffs into the sea, and the mountains rise behind the long pebble beach at Konyaaltı. Day trips reach the theatre at Aspendos and the columns of the Temple of Apollo at Side.
The Antalya cover, a blue door under bougainvillea above a bay with a single sail, fits the whole coast west from here too: Kaş, Kalkan, Fethiye and the lagoon at Ölüdeniz.

Ephesus, Pamukkale and the Aegean
Inland from the Aegean are two of the country's great sights: the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale with the ruins of Hierapolis above them, and the marble streets of Ephesus leading down to the Library of Celsus. Further south, Bodrum's castle guards a harbour full of wooden gulets.
There is no cover drawn for these places, so the tulip tea glass or one of the balloons, titled Turkey, carries a book that spans the whole route.
Turkey photo book ideas
A classic first trip to Turkey is a few days in Istanbul, a short flight to Cappadocia, then south via Pamukkale and Ephesus to a week on the coast. Here is how to turn that loop into chapters.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Istanbul
The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia from the Sultanahmet square, the columns and Medusa heads in the Basilica Cistern, the view over the Golden Horn from the Süleymaniye Mosque terrace, and the fishermen on the Galata Bridge at sunset.

On the Bosphorus
The skyline from the deck of a commuter ferry to Kadıköy, gulls following the boat for scraps of simit, and Ortaköy Mosque at the foot of the Bosphorus Bridge.
Cappadocia
Balloons rising over the fairy chimneys at sunrise from a rooftop or the basket, the frescoes in the rock churches at Göreme, sunset over Rose Valley, and a pottery kebab cracked open at the table.
Pamukkale and Ephesus
Bare feet in the pools of Pamukkale's white terraces, the ancient theatre at Hierapolis above them, and the façade of the Library of Celsus at Ephesus early in the morning.
Fethiye and Ölüdeniz
The Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz from the road above, paragliders drifting down from Babadağ, a gulet day trip round the bays, and the Lycian rock tombs in the cliff above Fethiye.

Antalya
Kaleiçi's lanes and Hadrian's Gate, the old harbour from the clifftop, the Lower Düden waterfall falling into the sea, and the mountains behind Konyaaltı beach at the end of the day.

Make it yours
A Turkey trip usually means at least one domestic flight or a long bus ride, so turn on the route map: the book opens with a title page showing the line from Istanbul to Cappadocia and down to the coast. Day pages then mark each move. Use captions for the names you will never spell again once home, the meyhane in Beyoğlu or the cave hotel in Göreme, and a note for the balloon flight that was cancelled for wind and went up the next morning instead.
Balloon photos and coastal views are wide by nature. A layflat book lets a sky full of balloons, or the view down over Ölüdeniz, run across both pages without a fold.
Hardcover, softcover or layflat

Turkey photo book questions
Which cover suits a Cappadocia balloon trip?
Either of the balloon covers. One is a striped balloon on pink, the other a balloon wrapped in a band of red tulips on peach. Both are titled Turkey, and you can change the title to Cappadocia or Göreme.
Can I put Istanbul, Cappadocia and the coast in one book?
Yes. Most Turkey books cover the whole trip. Day pages open each day, so the move from Istanbul to Cappadocia to the coast stays clear, and the route map shows the journey at the front. The cover can say Turkey or the place that mattered most.
Is there a cover for Bodrum, Fethiye or Ephesus?
There is no cover named for them, but any cover can be retitled. The Antalya door and bougainvillea suits anywhere on the coast, and the tulip tea glass works for any part of Turkey.
Can the cover say Türkiye instead of Turkey?
Yes. The title on every cover is editable, so it can read Türkiye, Turkey or the name of a town, with the year of the trip beneath it.
We only stayed at a resort near Antalya. Which cover fits?
The Antalya cover, with its blue door, bougainvillea and sailing boat on the bay, was drawn for exactly that kind of summer. A week of beach and pool photos fits well in a softcover or a square book.
Can I make my Turkey photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place.
Can I use my own balloon photo on the cover?
Yes. Photo cover styles such as Image and Poster put a picture of your own on the front, so your sunrise over Cappadocia or the Bosphorus at dusk can open the book.
How much does a Turkey photo book cost?
A Turkey photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Turkey photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
