Hardcover photo book questions
How thick is a hardcover photo book?
The spine grows with your page count: about 8 mm at 24 pages, 13 mm at 100 pages and 28 mm at the full 298. Your title is printed along it, so the book is easy to find on a shelf.
Which hardcover size should I choose?
Classic (21 × 29.7 cm) shows your photos largest and suits a big trip. Compact (14.8 × 21 cm) is smaller and the lowest in price. Square (21 × 21 cm) treats portrait and landscape photos equally, and takes the square version of every illustrated cover.
Can a photo run across two pages in a hardcover?
Yes, but the middle of it curves into the spine, as in any hardback. If wide views matter most, choose layflat: its pages open completely flat, so a panorama runs across both pages without a fold.
Why is hardcover the recommended book?
It is the most versatile of the three: three sizes, 24 to 298 pages and a hard cover that protects them. Choose layflat for panoramas, or softcover for a lighter, magazine-style book.
How much does a hardcover photo book cost?
A hardcover starts at £28.49 for a Compact 14.8 × 21 cm book with 24 pages. That is the book price alone: the larger sizes and every page you add cost more, and delivery is added for your address at checkout.
What can I print on the spine?
Your book's title, in any of the studio's 9 cover fonts, placed at the top, centre or bottom of the spine or split along it. The spine can match the cover's colour, take a colour the studio suggests, or be warm white, charcoal or a colour you pick.
Which covers can I put on a hardcover?
Every cover style in the studio: Image, Editorial, Illustrated, Poster, Arch and Good days. Illustrated covers print on the Classic, Compact and Square hardcover alike, and Image, Editorial, Poster and Arch are built around your own photos.
Is the hardcover paper gloss or matt?
Gloss: 200gsm gloss photo paper, the heaviest paper of the three books. Softcover pages are a lighter 150gsm gloss, and layflat pages are 190gsm lustre with a softer sheen.
Can I see my book before I order?
Yes. The studio shows every page as it will print, and you can download a design proof before you pay.
