Who layflat is for
Layflat is the book for photographs that need room. It costs more than the other two, so here is when it is worth it.
Landscapes and panoramas
Mountain ranges, coastlines and city skylines can fill a whole spread. Because the pages lie flat, nothing in the middle of the photo is lost to the binding.
Wide, landscape-shaped books
Layflat comes in Classic landscape (29.7 × 21 cm) and Square (21 × 21 cm). The landscape book suits photo covers such as Image, Poster and Arch; illustrated covers print on the square size.
Your best shots, not every shot
With 18 to 120 pages, layflat suits a tight edit of the trip rather than every photo from it. The pages are thick: about 24 mm of spine at 100 pages, against 13 mm for a hardcover.

What is a layflat photo book?
A book whose pages open completely flat, with no curve into the spine. A photo can run across both pages without a fold, which is why layflat is the choice for panoramas and wide landscapes.
Can I use an illustrated cover on a layflat book?
Yes, on the Square size (21 × 21 cm). Illustrated covers are drawn for portrait and square books, so a Classic landscape layflat takes a photo cover instead, such as Image, Editorial, Poster or Arch.
How many pages can a layflat book have?
Between 18 and 120. The pages are thick, so even a short book feels substantial: about 10 mm across the spine at 18 pages and 28 mm at 120.
What is lustre paper?
Lustre has a soft satin sheen rather than a high gloss, so a spread lying open shows fewer reflections. Layflat books are printed on 190gsm lustre; hardcover and softcover books are printed on gloss.
How much does a layflat photo book cost?
Layflat starts at £41.98 for a Square 21 × 21 cm book with 18 pages, the book price before delivery. The landscape size and extra pages add to it, and delivery is priced for your address at checkout.
Is there a portrait layflat book?
No. Layflat comes in two shapes only: Classic landscape (29.7 × 21 cm), which gives a panorama the most room, and Square (21 × 21 cm). For a portrait book, choose a hardcover or softcover.
