Make a photo book of your Brazil trip
- 5 illustrated covers drawn for Brazil
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
Brazil is big enough that most trips are really three or four trips joined by flights. A few days in Rio between the beach and the mountains, the roar and spray of Iguaçu Falls, a lodge on a river in the Amazon or the Pantanal, then the colonial streets of Salvador or Paraty. The photos come home in a heap of blues and greens, and a book is how they turn back into a route.
The covers are all titled Brazil and drawn in the country's own colours. Christ the Redeemer stands with open arms in front of a golden sun, a toucan sits among palm leaves and hibiscus, a pair of flip-flops sits on sunny yellow, and two caipirinhas, one on gold and one on magenta, are ready for the evening. Any of them can be retitled for Rio, Bahia or wherever the trip was centred.

Where in Brazil?
The cities, coasts and corners the Brazil covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Rio de Janeiro
Rio gives a book its most famous pages: the cog train up through the Tijuca Forest to Christ the Redeemer, the two cable cars to the top of Sugarloaf, the wave-patterned pavement along Copacabana and the applause for sunset at Arpoador. Add the tiled Selarón Steps in Lapa, the hilltop lanes of Santa Teresa and a Saturday feijoada.
The Christ the Redeemer cover is drawn for Rio, with the bay and its hills below the statue. For a trip that was mostly sand, the flip-flops suit it better, and the title can be changed to Rio.

Paraty and Ilha Grande
Between Rio and São Paulo, the Costa Verde is where many trips slow down. Paraty's cobbled centre is closed to cars, its white houses trimmed in bright colours, and boats leave the quay for the islands in the bay. Ilha Grande has no cars at all, just jungle trails between beaches, the long walk to Lopes Mendes among them. The flip-flops or the golden caipirinha fit these pages best.

Iguaçu Falls
Iguaçu is a chapter of its own: the panorama from the trail on the Brazilian side, the walkway out into the spray below the Devil's Throat, rainbows over the water and coatis on the paths. Many visitors cross to Puerto Iguazú to walk above the falls on the Argentine side too, and the Parque das Aves by the park entrance is where many people get their closest look at a toucan. The toucan cover is the natural choice.

The Amazon and the Pantanal
In the Amazon, trips usually start in Manaus with its opera house and the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark Rio Negro runs beside the sandy Solimões, then head out to a river lodge for canoe trips, pink river dolphins and a night walk in the forest. The Pantanal, far to the south, is open wetland: capybaras, caimans, hyacinth macaws and, in the dry season, jaguars along the riverbanks.
The toucan among palm leaves and hibiscus was made for either.

Salvador and Bahia
Salvador is colour and rhythm: the pastel squares of the Pelourinho, the Lacerda Elevator between the upper and lower city, capoeira in the street and acarajé fried to order by women in white dresses. Coloured ribbons tied to the gates of the Bonfim church make one of the best small photos in Brazil. With no Salvador cover, the magenta caipirinha suits the city's energy, and the title can say Bahia.
Brazil photo book ideas
A first trip to Brazil often starts in Rio, then flies to Iguaçu Falls and on to the Amazon, Salvador or both, with a few days on the Costa Verde if there is time. Here is how to turn that route into chapters.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Rio de Janeiro
Christ the Redeemer and the whole city from Corcovado, Sugarloaf at sunset from the cable car, the wave pavement and beach at Copacabana, sunset from the rock at Arpoador, and the tiled Selarón Steps.
Paraty and Ilha Grande
Paraty's cobbles and coloured doors early before the day trippers, wooden boats at the quay, and the white sand of Lopes Mendes after the walk through the forest.
Iguaçu Falls
The panorama from the Brazilian trail, the walkway into the spray beneath the Devil's Throat, rainbows over the falls, and toucans and macaws at the Parque das Aves.
Salvador
The pastel façades of the Pelourinho, the bay from the top of the Lacerda Elevator, a capoeira circle, and ribbons tied to the gates of the Bonfim church.
The Amazon
The Teatro Amazonas in Manaus, the line where the dark and sandy rivers meet, a canoe through the flooded forest, and the lodge at dusk.
The Pantanal
Capybaras and caimans along the Transpantaneira's wooden bridges, hyacinth macaws in the trees, and a jaguar on the riverbank from the boat.
The little things
The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.
- A coconut with a straw on the beach
- Açaí in a bowl
- Pão de queijo at breakfast
- Mate and biscoito Globo from a beach seller
- A caipirinha at a beach kiosk
- Your flip-flops on the sand

Make it yours
A Brazil trip usually involves internal flights, so turn on the route map: the book opens with a title page showing the line from Rio to Iguaçu to the Amazon, which says a lot about the size of the country before a single photo. Day pages then mark each new stop. Use captions for the names of beach kiosks, lodges and guides, and a note for the moment a jaguar appeared on the riverbank or the falls came into view.
Iguaçu, the view from Sugarloaf and the Amazon from the air are all photos that want width. A layflat book lets them run across both pages without a fold.
Hardcover, softcover or layflat
The same Brazil cover on all three books. Choose the one that suits your trip.

Brazil photo book questions
Which cover suits a trip to Rio de Janeiro?
The Christ the Redeemer cover, with the statue in front of a golden sun and the bay below, is drawn for Rio. For a beach-led trip, the flip-flops suit Copacabana and Ipanema. Every cover is titled Brazil, and you can change it to Rio.
Is there a cover for the Amazon or Iguaçu Falls?
There is no cover named for either, but the toucan among palm leaves and hibiscus suits both, as well as the Pantanal. Retitle it Amazon, Iguaçu or the name of your lodge if you like.
We saw Iguaçu from Argentina too. Can both countries go in one book?
Yes. Many trips cross to the Argentine side of the falls, and some go on to Buenos Aires. Day pages open each day so the border crossing is clear, and the route map shows the whole journey at the front.
Which cover suits Carnival or New Year in Rio?
The magenta caipirinha has the right party colours, and Christ the Redeemer keeps it unmistakably Rio. You can retitle either to Carnaval, Réveillon or the year you went.
Can the cover say Brasil?
Yes. The title on every cover is editable, so it can read Brasil, Brazil or the name of a city, with the year of the trip beneath it.
Can I make my Brazil photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place, useful when the trip spanned several flights.
Can I put my own photo of the falls on the cover?
Yes. Photo cover styles such as Image and Poster put a picture of your own on the front, so Iguaçu, Sugarloaf or a jaguar on the riverbank can open the book.
How much does a Brazil photo book cost?
A Brazil photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Brazil photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
