Make a photo book of your Colorado trip
- 4 illustrated covers drawn for Colorado
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
Colorado trips change with the season more than most. A summer one is high passes, alpine lakes and wildflowers above the tree line; an autumn one is whole hillsides of aspen turning gold; a winter one is fresh powder in Breckenridge, Vail or Aspen and a hot tub at the end of the day. Many take in Denver, a concert at Red Rocks and a drive along Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park. Whichever you had, the photos are mostly big views, and big views need paper.
The four Colorado covers are drawn from the state's own scenery: a snow-covered peak above a lake and pines, a stand of golden aspens in front of a blue mountain, the red sandstone fins of Garden of the Gods, and a bull moose with a full set of antlers. Choose by the season or the place, add your photos, and print it as a hardcover, softcover or layflat.

Where in Colorado?
The cities, coasts and corners the Colorado covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Denver and the Front Range
Most trips start in Denver: the mile-high step on the State Capitol, the Travel by Train sign and the Great Hall at Union Station, murals in the RiNo district, and an evening at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, between two giant tilted slabs of sandstone. Boulder and the Flatirons are half an hour north-west. No cover is drawn for the city, but any Colorado design can be retitled Denver.

Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak
An hour or so south of Denver, Garden of the Gods sets red rock fins against the snowy bulk of Pikes Peak, and the summit itself is reached by the cog railway from Manitou Springs or the long highway to the top. The Garden of the Gods cover belongs to this chapter, drawn from the park's own jagged rocks.

Rocky Mountain National Park
Estes Park leads into the national park, where Trail Ridge Road climbs above the tree line in summer and early autumn, elk graze Moraine Park, and short walks reach Bear Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake. Moose are most often seen on the western side, in the Kawuneeche Valley near Grand Lake. The snowy peak and lake and the moose covers both suit a park-centred book.

Aspen and the mountain towns
The Maroon Bells reflected in Maroon Lake outside Aspen are among the most photographed mountains in the state, especially with the aspens gold in late September. Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat and Telluride fill the winter books, and summer brings hiking, mountain biking and rafting to the same towns. The aspens cover was made for the autumn trip, and the snowy peak for the ski week.

The San Juan Mountains and the south-west
In the south-west corner the Million Dollar Highway winds between Ouray and Silverton, the narrow gauge steam train runs from Durango up the Animas River, and Mesa Verde keeps the Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings of Cliff Palace in its canyon walls. Further east, the Great Sand Dunes rise in front of the Sangre de Cristo range. Any of the mountain covers can carry this chapter.
Colorado photo book ideas
Many Colorado trips are a loop from Denver: the national park to the north, the ski and hiking towns along I-70 to the west, then south to the San Juans or Colorado Springs. Here is how to shape it into chapters, wherever the season took you.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Denver and Red Rocks
The city skyline with the Front Range behind it, the Great Hall at Union Station, the stage at Red Rocks from the top row of seats, and the Flatirons above Boulder.
Rocky Mountain National Park
Dream Lake and Hallett Peak in the early morning, the views and tundra along Trail Ridge Road, elk in Moraine Park, and moose in the willows of the Kawuneeche Valley.
Aspen and the Maroon Bells
The Maroon Bells reflected in Maroon Lake at sunrise, aspen groves turning gold, and the old Victorian main streets of the mountain towns.
The ski week
First chair on a bluebird day, the view from the top of the gondola, the village lit up at dusk, and the hot tub in the snow.
The Million Dollar Highway and Mesa Verde
Hairpins and old mine buildings on the road between Ouray and Silverton, the Durango steam train beside the river, and Cliff Palace under its rock overhang at Mesa Verde.
Colorado Springs
Balanced Rock and the red fins of Garden of the Gods with Pikes Peak behind, and the view from the summit of Pikes Peak.

Make it yours
A Colorado book is often a road trip from one mountain town to the next, so the route map is worth switching on; it opens the book with your loop through the Rockies. Day pages mark each new valley, and one photo to a page lets the panoramas breathe: a lake at dawn or a pass at the top of the climb rarely looks right squeezed into a grid.
Use captions for the trailheads, summits and elevations you were proud of, and for the bar in the ski town you went back to every night. Retitle the cover with the name of the resort or the national park if that was the whole trip, and keep the year underneath, which matters when you go back every winter.
Hardcover, softcover or layflat
The same Colorado cover on all three books. Choose the one that suits your trip.

Colorado photo book questions
Which Colorado cover suits a ski trip?
The snowy peak above a lake and pines is the wintriest of the Colorado covers. Retitle it with the resort, such as Breckenridge, Vail or Aspen, and keep the year beneath, so each winter's book is easy to tell apart on the shelf.
Is there a cover for an autumn aspen trip?
Yes. One Colorado cover is a stand of white-trunked aspens in full gold in front of a blue mountain, made for the weeks in late September and early October when the leaves turn.
Is there a Rocky Mountain National Park cover?
Not one titled with the park's name, but the snowy peak and lake and the moose covers are both drawn from the kind of scenery you find there. Change the title to Rocky Mountain National Park, or put your own photo of Trail Ridge Road or Dream Lake on the front with a photo cover style.
Can one book cover Colorado and Utah, or a longer road trip?
Yes. Many trips run on from the south-west corner of Colorado into Utah's national parks. Day pages mark each stop, a route map at the front shows the whole loop, and you can retitle the cover to suit everything it holds.
Can I make my Colorado photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place, or on the web at tripmemo.app.
How much does a Colorado photo book cost?
A Colorado photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Colorado photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
