Make a photo book of your Arizona trip
- 4 illustrated covers drawn for Arizona
- 2 places on the covers
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
Arizona is road trip country. Most visits are a loop: fly into Phoenix or drive in from Las Vegas, stand at the rim of the Grand Canyon, spend a couple of nights among Sedona's red rocks, then head north to Page for Horseshoe Bend and the slot canyons, and out to the buttes of Monument Valley. In between are hundreds of miles of empty road, Route 66 diners and sunsets that turn the whole sky orange. That is a lot of camera roll, and it deserves to be more than a phone full of horizons.
The covers are drawn in desert colours. The saguaro, the tall branching cactus that grows wild in the Sonoran Desert around Phoenix and Tucson, appears three ways: alone in front of a rising sun on orange, in green against a deep orange sun on apricot, and as a pair in pinks and navy on dusty lilac. The fourth is a USA cover of a road winding towards the sandstone buttes of Monument Valley, for the trip that crossed into Utah and beyond.

Where in Arizona?
The cities, coasts and corners the Arizona covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

The Grand Canyon
Most visitors see the canyon from the South Rim, which is open all year: the first view from Mather Point, sunset from Hopi Point on the Hermit Road shuttle, the stone Desert View Watchtower at the eastern end, and the first few switchbacks of the Bright Angel Trail if you went down a little way. The Arizona covers carry this chapter well, and the Monument Valley cover suits a book where the canyon was one stop of many.

Sedona
Sedona is red rock from every angle: Cathedral Rock reflected in Oak Creek, Bell Rock beside the road in, the Chapel of the Holy Cross built into the cliff, the hike out to Devil's Bridge and the sunset from Airport Mesa. Sedona sits too high for saguaros, so choose a cover for its colours and retitle it: the coral, pink and navy of the lilac saguaros cover are close to the rocks at sunset.

Page and Monument Valley
In the north, near the Utah border, Page is the base for Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell and the light beams of Antelope Canyon, which you can only visit on a guided tour with a Navajo operator. Monument Valley, a Navajo Tribal Park that straddles the state line, is the backdrop of John Ford's westerns: the Mittens, Merrick Butte and the long straight road on US-163. The USA cover is drawn from exactly that view.

Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson
The saguaros live down here. Phoenix and Scottsdale mean resort pools, golf, Camelback Mountain and the Desert Botanical Garden; Tucson has Saguaro National Park on both sides of the city and the white mission of San Xavier del Bac. All three saguaro covers were made for this part of the state, the bright orange one above all for a winter escape to the sun.

Route 66
The longest surviving stretch of the old Route 66 runs through northern Arizona. Seligman's souvenir shops, the Hackberry General Store, the corner in Winslow from the Eagles song, the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook and the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest just beyond it. For a book of the road itself, the Monument Valley cover is the natural fit.
Arizona photo book ideas
Most Arizona trips are a loop of about a week by car, often joined to Las Vegas or Utah's national parks. Here is how to turn that loop into chapters, with sunrise and sunset doing most of the work.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Phoenix and Scottsdale
The sunrise view from the top of Camelback Mountain, saguaros and flowering cactus at the Desert Botanical Garden, and the resort pool with the mountains turning pink behind it.
Sedona
Cathedral Rock from Red Rock Crossing on Oak Creek, the Chapel of the Holy Cross against the cliffs, the view from the arch at Devil's Bridge, and sunset from Airport Mesa.
Route 66
Old cars and neon in Williams, the souvenir shops and barber shop of Seligman, and the rusted signs and pumps outside the Hackberry General Store, before the road up to the canyon from Williams.
The Grand Canyon
Sunrise from Mather Point, sunset from Hopi Point as the layers change colour, the Desert View Watchtower, and a mule or a hiker on the Bright Angel Trail far below.
Page and Antelope Canyon
Horseshoe Bend from the rim with the Colorado River far below, light beams in Antelope Canyon, and the blue water of Lake Powell against red rock.
Monument Valley
The Mittens at sunrise from the visitor centre, the dirt Valley Drive between the buttes, and the long road on US-163 with the monuments ahead.
Tucson and the Sonoran Desert
Forests of saguaros at Saguaro National Park at sunset, the white facade of Mission San Xavier del Bac, and a Sonoran hot dog in the city.
The little things
The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.
- The national park entrance sign
- A Route 66 shield painted on the road
- Saguaro blossom in late spring
- Turquoise jewellery at a roadside stall
- The hire car covered in red dust
- A motel sign lit up at night
- Your water bottles lined up for the hike
- A monsoon storm rolling across the desert

Add your photos
They’re laid out for you, page by page. The TripMemo app also sorts your trip by day and place. Then move, crop and caption anything.

See every page as it will print and download a proof. It’s printed when you order and sent tracked, in about 5 to 8 working days in the UK.
Make it yours
An Arizona trip is shaped by the drive, so start with the route map: switch it on and the book opens with a map of the loop, from the airport to the rim to the red rock and back. Day pages then mark each new stop, so the morning at Horseshoe Bend and the sunset in Monument Valley each begin a page of their own. Give the biggest views a page to themselves; the canyon rarely fits in a grid of four.
Captions are useful for the names you will forget: the viewpoint where the light was best, the diner on Route 66, the trail you nearly turned back on. Then retitle the cover if the trip had a different name in your house, or put the year and Grand Canyon on the front of any design.

Arizona photo book questions
Is there a Grand Canyon photo book cover?
Not one titled Grand Canyon, but you can change the title on any Arizona cover to Grand Canyon and keep the year underneath. If you would rather show the canyon itself, a photo cover style puts your own picture of it on the front.
Which cover suits a Sedona trip?
There is no Sedona cover, and Sedona is too high for saguaros, but any Arizona design can be retitled Sedona. The two saguaros striped in coral and navy on lilac is the softest of them, and its colours are close to the red rock at sunset.
Can one book cover Arizona, Utah and Las Vegas?
Yes. Many Southwest road trips take in Zion, Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley with Las Vegas at one end, and one book holds the whole loop. The USA cover with the road to Monument Valley was drawn for that kind of trip, and a route map at the front shows where you went.
Why does the Monument Valley cover say USA?
It was drawn for road trips across several states. Monument Valley sits on the Arizona and Utah border, so the cover fits a book of the wider Southwest. You can retitle it Arizona if you prefer.
When is the best time of year for photos in Arizona?
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for touring the canyon and Sedona, and the saguaros flower in late spring. Summer is very hot in the low desert but brings monsoon storms and dramatic skies, and winter sometimes brings snow to the canyon rim.
Can I make my Arizona photo book in the app?
Yes. Make it in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place, useful when every day was a new stop, or on the web at tripmemo.app.
How much does an Arizona photo book cost?
An Arizona photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for an Arizona photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
