Make a photo book of your Venice trip
- 5 illustrated covers drawn for Venice
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
Venice is the easiest city in the world to photograph and the hardest to stop. Every bridge has a better view than the last, every canal has washing hung across it, and the light on the lagoon changes by the hour. Two or three days there can leave you with more pictures than a week anywhere else, most of them of water.
A photo book gives them a shape: arrival on the Grand Canal, the crowds in San Marco, the quiet back streets of Cannaregio, a day out to Burano's coloured houses. The covers say Venice in tall serif capitals over one picture of the city: a gondola, the domes of Santa Maria della Salute, a gondola moored by a striped pole, or a pair of glass cherries for the furnaces of Murano.

Every one is drawn for a place in Venice. Tap a book to try it on above, then fill it with your own photos.
Gondola & mooring pole
Venice
A black and gold gondola with red velvet seats moored beside a red and white striped pole, a domed basilica across turquoise water behind, on tomato red, for a first trip to Venice that wanted every postcard view at once.
Start with this coverSanta Maria della Salute
Venice
Santa Maria della Salute in pale pink and cream with powder-blue domes, wooden mooring posts and green trees at the water's edge, on blush pink under a coral title, for a stay in Dorsoduro or a trip that loved the view from the Accademia bridge.
Start with this coverGondola
Venice
A simple black gondola with red seats, its oar and pale prow ornament on ripples of blue over mint green, with a second version on teal where it floats in the reflection of a setting sun, for a calm Venice cover.
Start with this coverWhite cherries
Venice
A pair of glass cherries swirled with red, orange, blue and yellow on a golden stem with a teal leaf, on white under a magenta title, also on pink, for a Venice trip that took in the glassworks of Murano.

Venice
Two glossy red glass cherries on an amber glass stem with a green leaf, on pale aqua with a soft sea-green title, a gentler take on the Murano cherries.

Where in Venice?
The cities, coasts and corners the Venice covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Venice
5 covers
Every cover in this collection is drawn for Venice. The gondola comes three ways: moored by a striped pole with a domed church behind, drawn simply on mint, and floating into a sunset on teal. Santa Maria della Salute has a cover of its own, its domes in powder blue above the water. The glass cherries, in mottled colours or glossy red, are a nod to the glassmakers on Murano.

San Marco and the Rialto
The centre of every first visit: the basilica's gold mosaics, the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, the view from the top of the Campanile, and the Rialto Bridge with the produce and fish market beside it. The striped mooring pole cover belongs here, gondolas tied up along the water in front of the piazzetta.

Dorsoduro
Dorsoduro is quieter and full of art: the Accademia galleries, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the white church of Santa Maria della Salute at the mouth of the Grand Canal, and the long Zattere promenade facing the Giudecca. At San Trovaso there is a boatyard where gondolas are still built and repaired. The Salute cover suits a stay on this side of the canal.

Cannaregio and Castello
This is where Venetians live. In Cannaregio, the old Jewish Ghetto and the canalside bars of the Fondamenta della Misericordia, busy with cicchetti and spritz in the evening. In Castello, washing lines over Via Garibaldi, the stone lions outside the Arsenale gate and the Libreria Acqua Alta, with its books stacked in a gondola. The simple gondola cover suits a book of these slower days.

Murano, Burano and Torcello
A vaporetto across the lagoon takes in three islands in a day: glassblowers at work in the furnaces of Murano, the painted houses and lace shops of Burano, and the old cathedral and its mosaics on Torcello. None has its own cover, but the glass cherries were drawn with Murano in mind, and any Venice design can be retitled Burano.

Beyond the lagoon
Venice often begins or ends a longer trip: Giotto's frescoes in Padua, Verona's Roman arena, Lake Garda, or the drive up into the Dolomites. A Venice cover can stay on the front, or look to the Italy collection for a cover that names the whole trip.
Venice photo book ideas
Most Venice trips are two to four nights, arriving by train or water bus and spent on foot and on the vaporetto, with a day across the lagoon. Here is how to turn them into chapters, with early mornings and evenings for the photos, when the day visitors have gone.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Arriving on the Grand Canal
The first view of the Grand Canal from the steps of Santa Lucia station, the palaces sliding past from the front of a Line 1 vaporetto, and the Rialto Bridge from the water.

San Marco and the Rialto
Piazza San Marco empty at dawn, the lagoon from the top of the Campanile, the Bridge of Sighs from the Ponte della Paglia, the spiral staircase of the Scala Contarini del Bovolo, and the Rialto market in the morning.
Dorsoduro
Santa Maria della Salute from the Accademia bridge, gondolas upturned at the San Trovaso boatyard, the Zattere at sunset, and the view back to San Marco from the Punta della Dogana.
Cannaregio and Castello
Cicchetti and spritz along the Fondamenta della Misericordia, washing lines over Via Garibaldi, the lions at the Arsenale gate, and the books piled in a gondola at the Libreria Acqua Alta.
The lagoon islands
A glassblower at the furnace on Murano, Burano's houses in every colour reflected in the canal, and the bell tower of Torcello across the reeds.
Evening on the water
A gondola ride through narrow canals, the stand-up traghetto across the Grand Canal, and San Marco from the bell tower of San Giorgio Maggiore as the lights come on.

The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.

Make it yours
Venice is a maze, and a book is a good place to untangle it. Day pages open each day with a title of your own, the route map shows how far you actually walked between bridges, and captions can hold the name of the bacaro where you found the best sarde in saor and the campo where you sat with a spritz afterwards.
Many Venice trips are honeymoons, anniversaries or a first holiday together. Change the cover title to your names, keep the year beneath, and let a short note on the gondola page say what was said on it.
Hardcover, softcover or layflat
The same Venice cover on all three books. Choose the one that suits your trip.

Venice photo book questions
Why are there glass cherries on a Venice cover?
They are a nod to Murano, the island in the Venetian lagoon where glass has been made for centuries. One version has cherries swirled with colour on white or pink; the other has glossy red cherries on pale aqua.
Which Venice cover suits a honeymoon?
Most couples choose a gondola: the moored gondola by a striped pole on red, or the simple gondola on mint or on teal with a setting sun. Change the title to your names and keep the year beneath.
Is there a cover for Burano or Murano?
Neither has a cover of its own. The glass cherries were drawn with Murano in mind, and any Venice design can be retitled Burano. Photo cover styles such as Image or Poster also let your own picture of Burano's coloured houses go on the front.
Can I make a photo book of a trip to the Venice Carnival?
Yes. None of the covers shows a mask, so many people choose a photo cover style and put their own carnival photo on the front. Inside, captions can name each costume and day pages can follow the festivities day by day.
Can Venice, Verona and Lake Garda go in one book?
Yes. A book can hold the whole trip, with day pages marking each move. Keep a Venice cover, retitle it, or choose a cover from the Italy collection.
Can I make my Venice photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place.
How much does a Venice photo book cost?
A Venice photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Venice photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
