Make a photo book of your Denmark trip
- 5 illustrated covers drawn for Denmark
- 2 places on the covers
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
Most Denmark trips begin in Copenhagen, and the camera roll shows it: the painted gables of Nyhavn reflected in the canal, bikes three deep at every crossing, an open sandwich piled high, the Little Mermaid on her rock with a crowd beside her. Then the trip often goes further, to Hamlet's castle at Helsingør, the art museum by the sea at Louisiana, the rainbow walkway on top of ARoS in Aarhus or the dunes at Skagen. A photo book keeps the city and the country in one place.
The covers draw on the things you will have photographed. Copenhagen has a row of Nyhavn's coloured townhouses, a red bicycle with a basket of daisies and a white swan, Denmark's national bird. The Denmark covers show the Little Mermaid on deep red and a cream bicycle with a basket of red tulips, for a trip that went beyond the capital.

Where in Denmark?
The cities, coasts and corners the Denmark covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Copenhagen
3 covers
Copenhagen is the canal tour from Nyhavn, the spiral ramp up the Round Tower, the guards at Amalienborg and the old rides at Tivoli Gardens, with a swim in a harbour bath on a summer afternoon. Its covers are the coloured houses of Nyhavn, a red bicycle with daisies in its basket and a white swan, the bird you will have seen on the lakes by Queen Louise's Bridge.
The Little Mermaid sits on her rock at Langelinie, on the Copenhagen waterfront, though her cover is titled Denmark. Either title is yours to change.

North Zealand
The coast north of Copenhagen is the classic day out: Kronborg Castle at Helsingør, Shakespeare's Elsinore, looking across the strait to Sweden; the sculptures on the lawns of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art at Humlebæk; and Frederiksborg Castle rising from its lake at Hillerød. No cover is drawn for it, so a Denmark cover suits a book that includes these days.

Roskilde
A short train ride west of Copenhagen, Roskilde has the Viking Ship Museum on the fjord, with its recovered Viking ships, and the cathedral where Danish kings and queens are buried. It sits comfortably in the Copenhagen part of the book, under either title.

Funen and Odense
Odense is Hans Christian Andersen's home town, and its museum to him is the natural partner to the Little Mermaid cover, since the statue was made for his tale. Funen around it is farms, manor houses and the quiet harbour towns of the south coast.

Aarhus and Jutland
Jutland is the longer road trip: the rainbow panorama walkway on the roof of ARoS in Aarhus and the old streets of Den Gamle By, LEGO House and Legoland in Billund, the wide beaches of the west coast and the sandy tip of Grenen at Skagen, where two seas meet. The cream bicycle with tulips, titled Denmark, suits a book that covered the whole country.
Denmark photo book ideas
Most Denmark trips start with a long weekend in Copenhagen, then add a day up the coast or a few days in Funen and Jutland. Here is how to turn that into chapters, with a drawn cover for the city and one for the country.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Nyhavn and the harbour
The painted houses and old wooden boats of Nyhavn in evening light, the city from a canal boat, and the Little Mermaid on her rock at Langelinie.

Copenhagen by bike
Rows of bikes outside the station, the swans on the lakes from Queen Louise's Bridge, the spiral spire of the Church of Our Saviour in Christianshavn, and the view down the ramp of the Round Tower.

Tivoli and the palaces
Tivoli Gardens lit up at night, the guards in bearskins at Amalienborg, and Rosenborg Castle across the King's Garden.

Up the coast
Kronborg's copper roofs and the strait beyond at Helsingør, sculptures on the lawn above the sea at Louisiana, and Frederiksborg reflected in its lake.
Andersen's Odense
The low, colourful houses of the old quarter around Andersen's birthplace, the museum's gardens, and a stop at a harbour town on the way to Jutland.
Aarhus to Skagen
The city through the coloured glass of the ARoS rainbow walkway, Den Gamle By's old timber houses, and the waves meeting at the very tip of Grenen at Skagen.
The little things
The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.
- Smørrebrød on a wooden board
- A cinnamon swirl from the bakery
- A hot dog stand on the square
- Candles in a café window
- Your rental bike

Make it yours
A Denmark trip is often a few days in Copenhagen and then a train or a drive somewhere else, so day pages are worth keeping on: one opens with Nyhavn, the next with Kronborg or Legoland. Turn on the route map to show the line from Zealand across the bridges to Funen and Jutland. Caption the smørrebrød you ordered, the bakery that made the best cinnamon swirls, and the beach where you braved the water.
Danish light is long and soft in summer and short and candlelit in winter, and both look lovely printed. If the trip was about hygge more than sights, a softcover or a square book with one photo per page keeps it calm. Retitle the cover for a honeymoon, a family Legoland trip or a Christmas at Tivoli, with the year beneath.
Hardcover, softcover or layflat

Denmark photo book questions
Should I choose a Copenhagen or a Denmark cover?
If most of the trip was in the capital, a Copenhagen cover suits it: Nyhavn's houses, the red bicycle or the swan. If you travelled further, to Aarhus, Odense or Skagen, the Little Mermaid or the cream bicycle reads Denmark. Any cover can be retitled either way.
Is there a Little Mermaid cover?
Yes. It shows the statue seated on her rock with her reflection in the water, in warm peach tones on deep wine red, titled Denmark.
Which cover suits a Legoland or family trip?
The bicycle covers are bright and simple and suit a family holiday, and the Nyhavn houses are colourful enough for children to pick out. Retitle the cover with your family name or the trip itself.
Is there a cover for Aarhus, Odense or Skagen?
There is no cover named for them, but the Denmark covers suit a trip around the country, and any design can be retitled with the name of the town you stayed in.
My trip was Copenhagen and Malmö. Can it go in one book?
Yes. Many visitors cross the Øresund Bridge to Sweden for a day. A book holds the whole trip, with day pages showing when you crossed, and you can retitle the cover for both cities.
Can I make my Denmark photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place.
How much does a Denmark photo book cost?
A Denmark photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Denmark photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
