Prague is a city of towers, and a few days there leave a camera roll full of them: the spires of Týn Church over Old Town Square, the crowd waiting for the astronomical clock to strike, the bridge tower at the end of Charles Bridge in the early mist, the castle lit up above the river at night. In between are trams rattling over cobbles, a lager poured at a wooden bar and a lot of steep streets up to the castle. A photo book turns it into a walk you can take again.

The covers are drawn from the same streets. Týn Church's twin dark spires, the clock face of the Old Town Hall tower, a Gothic bridge tower with a statue and a street lamp, and a red and cream tram showing number 22, the line that climbs to Prague Castle. Each reads Prague in tall cream capitals over a deep, rich colour, with the year beneath.

  • Prague illustrated travel photo book cover with the tram 22 artwork

    Old Town

Old Town Square is where every Prague book has its busiest pages: the dark spires of Týn Church above the arcades, the astronomical clock on the Old Town Hall and the crowd that gathers below it on the hour, then the view down over both from the top of the hall's tower. Two covers are drawn here, Týn Church and the clock. The lanes of the old Jewish Quarter, Josefov, are a few minutes' walk away.

  • Prague illustrated travel photo book cover with the tram 22 artwork

    Charles Bridge and Malá Strana

Charles Bridge is best photographed early, before the painters and the crowds, with its line of dark statues and a Gothic tower at each end. Across it, Malá Strana is baroque streets, the green dome of St Nicholas, the Lennon Wall and the quiet waterside of Kampa Island. The bridge tower cover, with its statue and lamp, is drawn for this side of the river.

  • Prague illustrated travel photo book cover with the tram 22 artwork

    Prague Castle and Hradčany

The castle district sits on the hill above it all: St Vitus Cathedral filling the courtyard, the tiny painted houses of Golden Lane and the view of red roofs and bridges from the castle steps. Tram 22 climbs from the river up to the castle, which is why the tram cover shows that number. Walk on to Strahov Monastery, then down through the orchards of Petřín Hill.

    Beyond the centre

Prague is worth a page or two away from the postcard views: the beer garden at Letná looking down on the bridges, the walls of Vyšehrad above the river, the Dancing House on the embankment. Many visitors also take a day trip to Kutná Hora and its bone-lined ossuary, or a longer one to Český Krumlov. No cover is drawn for those, so keep Prague on the front and let day pages mark the trip out of town.

Ideas

Prague photo book ideas

Most Prague trips are a long weekend on foot: Old Town, across Charles Bridge, up to the castle, and down again for dinner. Here is how to turn those days into chapters, with a cover drawn for each part of the walk.

Build it chapter by chapter

Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.

  1. Old Town Square

Týn Church's spires over the square, the astronomical clock as it strikes the hour, and the whole square from the top of the Old Town Hall tower.

  2. Charles Bridge at dawn

The empty bridge and its statues at first light, the Old Town Bridge Tower from the bridge, and the castle above the river from the embankment.

  3. Malá Strana

The green dome of St Nicholas over the square, the colours of the Lennon Wall, and the water wheel and willows on Kampa Island.

  4. Prague Castle

Tram 22 on the climb up the hill, St Vitus Cathedral's west front, the small painted houses of Golden Lane, and the city's red roofs from the castle steps.

  5. Petřín and Letná

The funicular up Petřín Hill and the view from its lookout tower, then a beer at Letná at sunset with the bridges lined up below.

  6. A day out

The bone chandelier in the Sedlec Ossuary at Kutná Hora and the Gothic St Barbara's Church, or the river bend and castle tower of Český Krumlov.

The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.

Pick one of the 4 Prague covers, change its title, or put your own photo on the front.

  2. Add your photos

They’re laid out for you, page by page. The TripMemo app also sorts your trip by day and place. Then move, crop and caption anything.

  3. Check it and order

See every page as it will print and download a proof. It’s printed when you order and sent tracked, in about 5 to 8 working days in the UK.

Make it yours

A Prague city break is often three or four days, and every day crosses the river at least once. Turn on day pages so each one opens clearly, and switch on the route map to show the line from Old Town to the castle. Caption the pubs and the dishes, from svíčková with dumplings to a bowl of goulash, and add a note for the moment the clock struck and the apostles went past the windows.

Prague photos are full of warm stone, dark spires and evening light, and they look rich in print. If this was a stag or hen weekend, a birthday or a winter trip to the Christmas markets, retitle the cover to say so and keep the year beneath.

Hardcover, softcover or layflat

Prague photo book questions

Which Prague cover suits a winter or Christmas market trip?

Týn Church is the one: its spires stand right behind the Christmas market on Old Town Square, and it is drawn in cream on deep teal. The tram on deep navy also suits a dark, wintry book. Set the year yourself and add your market photos with captions.

Is there a Prague cover with Charles Bridge?

Yes. The bridge tower cover shows a Gothic tower with a stone saint on the parapet and an old street lamp, on sage green.

Why does the tram cover say 22?

Tram 22 is the line many visitors ride from the river up to Prague Castle, past Malá Strana. It is drawn in red and cream on cobbled track.

Is there a cover for Český Krumlov or Kutná Hora?

There is no cover named for them, but any Prague cover can be retitled. Most people keep Prague on the front and give the day trip its own day page inside.

My trip was Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Can it go in one book?

Yes. A book can hold a whole trip across several cities, with day pages showing when you moved on. Choose a Prague cover and retitle it for the whole journey, or put your own photo on the front.

Can I make my Prague photo book on my phone?

Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place.

How much does a Prague photo book cost?

A Prague photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.

How many photos do I need for a Prague photo book?

A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
