Make a photo book of your Bali trip
- 7 illustrated covers drawn for Bali
- Hardcover, softcover or layflat, in three sizes
- Made on the web or in the app, printed when you order
A Bali trip is usually two holidays in one. There are the green days inland, around Ubud: rice terraces, temple courtyards, a dawn climb up Mount Batur. Then there is the coast, where the days are surf lessons in Canggu, a beanbag on the sand in Seminyak and the Kecak dance against the sunset at Uluwatu. Somewhere in between you took a fast boat to Nusa Penida and stood on the edge of the cliff above Kelingking.
A photo book gives each half its own chapters. The covers draw on the island's flowers and its beach days: frangipani, the bloom Balinese tuck into their daily offerings, two kinds of hibiscus, a surfboard among the leaves, a rowboat on clear water and a piña colada with a paper umbrella. Every one reads Bali in large letters with the year beneath.

Where in Bali?
The cities, coasts and corners the Bali covers are drawn for. Pick the place your trip was about, or keep the whole country on the front.

Ubud and the rice terraces
Ubud is the island's green heart: the terraces at Tegallalang, the long-tailed macaques of the Sacred Monkey Forest, the Campuhan Ridge walk in the early light and a dance in the courtyard of the palace at night. A short drive away, visitors queue in sarongs to bathe in the spring-fed pools at Tirta Empul.
The green hibiscus and both frangipani covers suit this side of Bali, the frangipani above all, since the flower turns up in almost every offering you pass.

Canggu and Seminyak
On the west coast, Canggu is surfboards on scooters, smoothie bowls and rice paddies between the villas, with the sea temple of Tanah Lot a short ride up the coast for sunset. Seminyak, just south, is boutiques, long dinners and beach clubs where everyone turns to face the sun going down.
The surfboard cover belongs to Canggu, and the piña colada to an evening in Seminyak.

Uluwatu and the Bukit
The Bukit peninsula in the south is limestone cliffs and the beaches tucked beneath them: Padang Padang, Bingin, and Suluban, reached through a gap in the rocks. Pura Luhur Uluwatu stands on the cliff edge, and the Kecak fire dance is performed beside it at sunset while the temple monkeys eye your sunglasses. On the bay at Jimbaran, where the peninsula meets the rest of the island, grilled seafood is served at tables set out on the sand.
The surfboard suits the Bukit's famous breaks, and the piña colada the clifftop bars.

Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan
A fast boat from Sanur takes you to the Nusa islands. Penida has the T-rex headland above Kelingking Beach, the sea arch at Broken Beach and manta rays to snorkel with; Lembongan is mangroves, the spray of Devil's Tear and the yellow bridge across to Nusa Ceningan.
The rowboat on clear turquoise water is the cover for these days on and in the sea.

East Bali and the volcanoes
The east is quieter and wilder. Mount Batur is climbed in the dark for sunrise over the crater lake, the split gates of Pura Lempuyang frame Mount Agung, the water palace at Tirta Gangga has stepping stones across its koi ponds, and the Sidemen valley is rice fields with almost no one in them. On the coast at Amed, painted jukung fishing boats line the black sand.
No cover is drawn for the east alone, but the hibiscus covers and the rowboat suit it, and any of them can be retitled.
Bali photo book ideas
Most Bali trips land in the south, head inland to Ubud for the temples and rice fields, then return to the coast and the islands for the second half. Here is how to turn that loop into chapters, from the first sunset to the last swim.
Build it chapter by chapter
Follow the route you took and let each stop be its own chapter. Turn on day pages and every day opens with a page you can title, so the book reads in the order you lived it.
Canggu and Seminyak
Surfers at Batu Bolong at golden hour, a smoothie bowl on a café table, rice paddies between the villas, and Tanah Lot standing in the sea at sunset.
Ubud
The Tegallalang terraces in the morning light, macaques in the Sacred Monkey Forest, the Campuhan Ridge path, and an evening dance at Ubud Palace.
Temples and water
Pilgrims bathing in the spring pools at Tirta Empul, the carved entrance of Goa Gajah, and your own sarong and sash for the temple visits.
Volcanoes and the east
Sunrise from the top of Mount Batur, Mount Agung framed by the gates at Lempuyang, the stepping stones of Tirta Gangga, and jukung boats on the beach at Amed.
The Nusa islands
Kelingking Beach from the clifftop, the arch of Broken Beach, a manta ray from the snorkelling boat, and the yellow bridge to Nusa Ceningan.
Uluwatu
The temple on its cliff with the Kecak dancers lit by fire at sunset, surfers from the cliff path above the breaks, and dinner on the sand at Jimbaran.
The little things
The landmarks take care of themselves. These are the photos you’ll be glad you took.
- Canang sari offerings on the pavement
- A frangipani behind your ear
- Penjor poles curving over the road
- Your scooter and helmet
- A fresh coconut with a straw

Make it yours
Bali trips often move between two or three bases, so day pages help: one opens the morning you left Ubud for the coast, another the day you crossed to Nusa Penida. Use captions for the warung where you ate the best babi guling, the name of your villa and the guide who led the Batur climb in the dark. A note can hold the morning of Nyepi silence, or the sound of the gamelan from a temple you never found again.
Bali photos are full of greens and sea blues, and the wide ones, rice terraces, cliffs and a sunset from the sand, deserve a page of their own. A layflat or square book lets them stretch across both pages.

Bali photo book questions
Which Bali cover suits a honeymoon?
The rowboat on turquoise water and the pink frangipani are the softest choices, and the green hibiscus suits a villa among the rice fields. The cover title is editable, so it can carry your names and the year.
Is there a cover for a surf trip?
Yes. The surfboard and hibiscus cover shows a striped board standing among tropical leaves, and it suits a trip to Canggu or the breaks around Uluwatu.
Is there a cover for Ubud, Uluwatu or Nusa Penida?
Every design reads Bali, but you can change the title to any place, so a frangipani cover can say Ubud and the rowboat can say Nusa Penida. The illustration stays the same.
Can I add Lombok or the Gili Islands to my Bali book?
Yes. The Gili Islands lie off Lombok, a boat ride east of Bali, and many trips take in both. Day pages mark the crossing, and you can keep Bali on the cover or retitle it Indonesia.
We went in the rainy season. Will the book still look good?
Yes. The wet season, roughly November to March, often brings sun in the morning and a downpour in the afternoon, and the island is at its greenest. Every page is previewed before you order, so you can swap a grey photo for a brighter one.
Can I make my Bali photo book on my phone?
Yes. Make it on the web here or in the TripMemo app on iPhone, which sorts your trip photos by day and place, useful when the trip moved between Ubud, the coast and the islands.
Can I put my own photo of the rice terraces on the cover?
Yes. Photo styles such as Image, Poster and Arch put one of your own pictures on the front, so the terraces, a temple gate or the sunset at Uluwatu can open the book.
How much does a Bali photo book cost?
A Bali photo book starts at £26.49 for a softcover, £28.49 for a hardcover and £41.99 for a layflat, before delivery. The price grows with the pages you add, and you see the exact total, with delivery to your address, before you pay. UK orders usually arrive in 5 to 8 working days, and we ship worldwide.
How many photos do I need for a Bali photo book?
A short break usually gives 60 to 120 photos worth printing, which fill 24 to 40 pages. A week gives 150 to 250 photos for 40 to 80 pages, and two weeks or more 250 to 400 photos for 80 to 150 pages. Your photos are laid out for you, two to a page by default, and you can change it to one to four.
